Parsa's Blog

Fri, 19 May 2006

It's been a busy year.

I haven't been keeping up with this blog. I've had a busy year with about 36 students in every class. Next year they're saying I'll have 38. Nobody seems to care if it violates any kind of safety laws.

Anyway, I've been working on my new web site on old highways and auto trails.

The URL for the American Roads web site is:

http://www.americanroads.us/

Take a look and join the forum. The Route 66 board will be the 'official' forum for this web site.

School's out for summer!

Unfortunately I start teaching summer school next week.

I should have more time to work on the site however.

I also bought a new domain, americanroads.us, which I plan to use as a more professional old roads info site primarily featuring a web-based forum.

All the image maps are done. Yeah!

I finished the Concierge page today, and uploaded it.

Now I only need to get the Kids Page, the Trips Page, and a beginning to my personal page.

This summer I may try playing with phpBB to see if I can start a 66 forum.

Photos are all up!

The photos are finally all on the web site. Enjoy.

I worked some more on getting things to look better in various browsers. IE kept refusing to center the tables, and I had to play all sorts of silly tricks with style sheets and transparent images to make them right.

Now, on to making the Concierge image map...

Work on the website

I've been doing quite a bit of work on the website.

I've uploaded all the photos except for California. I made the Lounge image map, which took quite a bit of work. I also made sure the pages looked good in three different browsers, IE, netscape, and Safari.

Netscape didn't like the fact that I had no "nowrap" tags on the map images. It also didn't like the fact that there was no border value on the framset. I set it to 0.

IE had lots of problems, especially a known problem with tables set to a width of 100%. I had to use a little 1 pixel spacer in one cell to solve the problem. Weird.

Error in Blog entries

My Blog pages looked fine in Safari and Netscape, however Internet Explorer was using the blog entries to set the background color to white. IE always has problems of some kind.

Unfortunately, I had to delete all my 2004 Blog entries, otherwise they would all be dated today. The previous log is actually from April 11.

Photo uploads have started

I've started adding some photos to the site.

I've added Illinois, Missouri, and Kansas so far.
